The Technical Lead – Testing is responsible for leading the QA/testing function across projects, defining test strategies, ensuring high-quality deliverables, and mentoring the testing team. This role combines hands-on technical expertise with leadership and collaboration across development, product, and business teams.


Key Responsibilities

Test Strategy & Planning

  • Define and own overall test strategy, test plans, and quality benchmarks
  • Ensure alignment of testing activities with business and technical requirements
  • Identify testing risks and mitigation plans early in the lifecycle

Technical Leadership

  • Lead automation framework design, implementation, and maintenance
  • Review and optimize test cases (manual and automated)
  • Guide the team on best practices for functional, regression, performance, security, and API testing

Team Leadership & Mentoring

  • Lead, mentor, and upskill QA engineers and testers
  • Perform test reviews, provide technical guidance, and conduct knowledge-sharing sessions
  • Support hiring, onboarding, and performance evaluation of QA team members

Execution & Quality Assurance

  • Oversee test execution and defect management processes
  • Ensure timely defect reporting, tracking, and closure
  • Drive root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives

Collaboration & Communication

  • Work closely with Developers, Product Owners, Business Analysts, and DevOps teams
  • Participate in sprint planning, reviews, retrospectives, and release readiness discussions
  • Provide clear quality status reports to stakeholders

Process & Tools

  • Establish and improve QA processes aligned with Agile/Scrum or DevOps practices
  • Evaluate and implement testing tools and frameworks
  • Ensure CI/CD pipeline integration for automated testing

Required Skills & Qualifications

Technical Skills

  • Strong experience in software testing and QA leadership
  • Hands-on experience with test automation tools (e.g., Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, Appium)
  • Knowledge of API testing (Postman, REST Assured, etc.)
  • Experience with performance testing tools (e.g., JMeter, LoadRunner)
  • Familiarity with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, etc.)
  • Solid understanding of SDLC, STLC, Agile, and DevOps

Soft Skills

  • Strong leadership and mentoring abilities
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Problem-solving and decision-making mindset
  • Ability to work in fast-paced, cross-functional environments

Experience & Education

  • 6–10+ years of experience in software testing
  • 2–4+ years in a QA Lead / Technical Lead role
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)

Nice to Have

  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP)
  • Knowledge of security testing concepts
  • ISTQB or similar QA certifications
