OBJECTIVE OF ROLE

We are seeking a Kubernetes & Linux Administrator to support and maintain enterprise-grade on-premises Kubernetes clusters (Tanzu (VCF)/ vSphere) and Linux environments across production, DR, and non-production data centers. This role is responsible for ensuring cluster stability, security, and performance, while also supporting system patching, automation, and observability initiatives. Experience in DevOps tools such as Harness, Jenkins, or GitLab CI is a strong plus.

Key Responsibilities

Kubernetes Administration

- Manage and support on-prem Tanzu Kubernetes clusters on VMware infrastructure. - Perform cluster lifecycle operations – build, upgrade, scale, drain, and decommission nodes. - Troubleshoot pods, services, deployments, and ingress controllers across namespaces. - Manage RBAC, network policies, and resource quotas for application teams. - Administer Harbor registry, load balancers, and storage classes (vSAN / NFS). - Monitor cluster health and integrate with observability tools such as Dynatrace, Prometheus, or Grafana. - Coordinate patching and upgrade activities for Kubernetes, OS, and underlying infrastructure.

Linux Administration

- Perform day-to-day operations on RHEL/OEL linux - Manage user access, sudo privileges, system patching, and security hardening. - Automate repetitive operational tasks using Ansible, Bash, or Python scripts. - Support application and middleware teams during deployments, patching, and DR testing. - Validate system and application of health post-maintenance or configuration changes. - Maintain high system uptime through proactive monitoring and incident management.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

DevOps & Automation (Preferred. Not Must)

- Work with Harness, Jenkins, or GitLab CI/CD to automate deployments and operational workflows. - Participate in pipeline onboarding for platform or infrastructure tasks. - Support configuration as code (YAML, Helm) for Kubernetes workloads and infrastructure templates. - Contribute to process automation, self-service, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Required Qualifications

- 4–7 years of experience as a Linux Administrator or Kubernetes Administrator in large-scale environments. - Strong hands-on experience with Tanzu Kubernetes Grid (TKG) or native Kubernetes on vSphere. - Skilled in kubectl, Helm, and YAML-based configurations. - Strong Linux administration skills including patching, storage, and networking fundamentals. - Experience with monitoring and observability tools (Dynatrace, Grafana, Prometheus, Fluent Bit). - Working knowledge of Ansible, Bash, or Python scripting. - Understanding of RBAC, CNI (NSX-T / Antrea), and Ingress controllers.

EXPERIENCE

Preferred Skills

- Experience with Harness, Jenkins, or GitLab CI/CD pipelines. - Exposure to GitOps, Helm chart management, or Harbor registry administration. - Familiarity with ServiceNow or other ITSM tools for change and incident management. - Certifications such as CKA, RHCE, or VMware Tanzu Specialist are a plus
